This position is located in the Fleet and Family readiness (F&FR) Division at Navy Region Northwest. Responsible for management, control and accomplishment of assigned functions associated with the facility. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.

Summary of Duties: This job is primarily repairing, modification and major overhaul of small engines including disassembly, reassembly and engine overhaul test phases. Performs a variety of maintenance and repair duties including but not limited to testing adjusting, repairing and replacing broken, lost and worn parts of a variety of equipment such as small engines, powerboats, travel trailers, MWR vehicles, bicycles, lanterns stobes, ice chests, backpacks, fishing reels and poles, car top racks, canoes, kayaks, tents canopies and other equipment. Disposes of unserviceable equipment through proper channels. Ensures internal controls are followed to protect minor property, fixed assets, supplies and records. Accountable for inventory within area of responsibility. Uses technical manuals, catalogs, and consults with vendors and manufacturers to research and order equipment, parts, tools and materials necessary for equipment maintenance and repair. Employee performs minor housekeeping to assist in keeping workspace and facility safe, clean and organized. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Requires either: vocational training and certification in related areas AND two years of practical on the job experience in equipment assembly, installation and repair OR Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified. Knowledge of makeup, operation, and installation of mechanical systems and assemblies to inspect, troubleshoot and repair small engines and equipment. Skilled with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment. Skilled in use of computer/Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Provide customer service to patrons utilizing equipment, use of point of sale program, maintain records and report/collect fees.

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check required. Work is performed outside in all types of weather, as well as inside of buildings. Incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, noise, dirt, fumes, dust, grease and fluids that may cause irritation and possible electric shock, scrapes, burns, and cuts. Incumbent must wear personal protective equipment when required. Work is often strenuous and performed in tiring, awkward, uncomfortable, and prolonged positions. Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and crawling is required. Must have ability to lift supplies or equipment weighing up to 70 pounds without assistance. Must be able to work varied work schedules to include split days off, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Subject to recall. Work location may be at different locations/facilities. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license and might be required to drive a government vehicle including light trucks and up to a 15 passenger van. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire.
