PROJECT CONTROLLER

Our busy engineering firm is seeking a Project Controller to join our existing team in supporting all stages and sizes of industrial process facility engineering and design projects being executed and managed out of six offices. Project Controllers develop, maintain and monitor project schedules, project budgets, progress measurement systems, action item lists, change logs, and client portfolio summaries. They also assist in preparing project status reports, project change orders and other client communications.

The successful candidate will interface daily with the project controls team, project managers, engineers, designers, project coordinators, accounting staff and clients.

Candidates may be recent college graduates, seasoned veterans with many years of project controls experience, or any experience level in between. Compensation depends on relevant education and experience.

Reporting:

Position reports to the Project Controls Manager. In the project structure, the position will collaborate with project managers and project engineers on assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist project managers in the efficient and effective monitoring and execution of multi-discipline engineering, project management, procurement support, construction coordination, and startup / commissioning support for Kestrel’s clients.

• Prepare and update resource-loaded CPM schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software.

• Prepare and evaluate project budget reports and other cost control tools with cost data from the accounting system.

• Measure, forecast, and report project progress and cash flow using earned value and other techniques.

• Prepare and edit project status reports, 3-week look-ahead schedules, action item lists, change logs, change orders and other project documents.

• Participate in regular project meetings, able to present and explain the status of the project schedule and budget.

• Prepare and review total installed cost (TIC) estimates, if education and experience are appropriate, using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator and other software.

Qualifications:

• BS in engineering, construction engineering technology, construction management, or related field.

• Previous experience in project controls, project management, construction, construction management, cost estimating and/or construction inspection is desirable.

• Proficiency with project management software for scheduling, forecasting and other important aspects of the project management process.

• Able and willing to travel to client facilities, this includes possessing a valid driver’s license and being able to pass all applicable drug tests and background checks required for entry into client facilities.

• Willing to regularly wear personal protective equipment including: flame retardant clothing, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, hardhat, H2S monitor, and a respirator when required.

• Professional appearance, speech and demeanor suitable for a professional environment.

Required Skills:

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and written/oral communication skills.

• Detail-oriented team player who can consistently meet deadlines and possess the ability to work independently as needed.

• Must be self-motivated, hardworking, and eager to learn.

• Use applicable software to perform the work described above such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Deltek Vision, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, etc.
