Solid State Lighting Engineer
Responsible for a broad range of electrical and mechanical engineering tasks associated with LED lighting design, manufacturing, and quality control.
Responsibilities
Leadership role; taking on known and unknown responsibilities.
PCB design, including components, conductors and hole mounts, manufacturing specifications, circuit routing, schematics and design testing, resulting in gerber file and centroid data output.
Programming/troubleshooting/maintenance of surface mount technology line.
Design/development/testing of new and existing products, including lighting fixtures, controls, PCBs, circuitry, etc., including mechanical and electrical design/layout, circuit loading, thermal testing, data logging, and reporting.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of warranty claims.
Development of internal and customer-facing product documentation .
Consolidation and consistency of BOMs and part inventory, including interchangeability of all raw materials.
Development/communication of consistent part numbering with vendors.
Review of manufacturing procedures at vendor factories; ensuring consistency in the manufacturing process and quality of end products.
Continuously maintain knowledge of current industry standards, competitor technologies, IP conflicts, etc.
Requirements
BSEE preferred, experience and portfolio in lieu of a BSEE will be considered.
Expertise with passive, active and electromechanical components, descriptive geometry, mechanical drafting, computer-aided design and modeling (including PCB design software), gerber file creation and validation, electronic structuring, electronic circuits and devices, laboratory testing, validation and documentation, electronic fabrication for prototyping and circuit validation.
Familiarity with Lighting industry and broader industry standards (e.g. IPC Designers Council)
Understanding of horticultural lighting principles and mechanical drafting a plus
