Job Summary:
The Scrum Master is a ‘servant-leader’ for the Scrum team and assumes the responsibility of ensuring Scrum is understood and performed by leading the team to adhere to the theories, practices, and rules of Scrum. Utilizing Scrum master tools and principles, this role facilitates Agile information technology project cycles to
empower the team to task completion and backlog burndown.
Responsibilities:

  • Strongly serve and support the Product Owner and development team to attain the goals and objectives for the customer
  • Provide servant leadership to teams by employing active listening, empathy, awareness, foresight, stewardship, growth, community building, and nurturing principles
  • Assess, guide and coach the Scrum team and organization on applicable use of Agile/Scrum practices and values
  • Develop, influence and apply sustainable model for improving Scrum maturity
  • Guide and empower the team to overcome obstacles by facilitating: discovery and problem resolution, learning others’ abilities, and cross training on others’ job title and team role.
  • Build a trustworthy and safe environment that encourages surfacing problems without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment and emphasizes problem resolution
  • Facilitate work completion without influence, coercion, assignment, or dictation of the work
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution within and across teams
  • Assisting with internal and external communication
  • Support the Product Owner with respect to refining, grooming and managing the product backlog

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM)
  • 3-5 years of Agile development experience
  • An understanding of Software Development Lifecycle education and/or Project Management Lifecycle
  • Desired experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word) and Agile tools (VersionOne, Jira, Rally, TFS)
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of numerous well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach
    (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
  • The ability to distinguish between "Scrum" what is not “Scrum"
  • Experience with offshore/offsite teams is desired
