Position summary
Winescape is excited to offer a rare opportunity to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working team player to work part time in our tasting room. The ideal candidate is a people-person who has hospitality experience and is goal driven and detail oriented. Open since 2017, Winescape is a 2,000 case/year production winery and tasting room located on a rural farmstead on Spokaneâs South Hill. Winescape is highly regarded for exceptional wine as well as a âget away from it allâ pastoral site just 7 miles from downtown.
Description of position
⢠Works Friday through Sunday afternoons. Assists at additional hospitality events as needed.
⢠Opens and closes the winery business day per protocol.
⢠Greets tasting room guests. Pours tastings and engages guests to promote a positive impression of Winescape.
⢠Describes wines, appellations, and unique aspects of each varietal and blend.
⢠Accurately handles routine transactions, including cash and point of sale purchases. Accounts for daily sales; returns, discounts, etc. Participates in inventory reconciliation.
⢠Performs or delegates tasks to maintain tasting room cleanliness.
⢠Inputs tasting room data and ensures that customers are properly entered in POS system.
⢠Able to increase or decrease work pace during busy and slow work times.
⢠Delegate tasks as appropriate and assists with training new employees.
⢠Assists with processing and dispensing wine club transactions.
Required qualifications:
⢠A passion for wine and customer service.
⢠Professional, warm and welcoming in personal style. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
⢠Able to work weekends and some holidays.
⢠Able to lift 30+ lbs. consistently and stand for extended periods of time.
⢠Has a valid Washington MAST (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training) card or be able to obtain one within 72 hours.
⢠Meets basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and POS systems (Active Club preferred).
⢠Able to work independently with ability to multitask tasting room needs and administrative duties. Initiates other work tasks during slow times.
⢠Keen attention to detail and strong organization skills. Ethical conduct in business transactions and business-related communications.
⢠Must be 21 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications:
⢠Prior experience in wine hospitality, wine making, wine distribution, and/or wine education.
