Certified Medical Assistant (part-time) (Spokane)

Vacancy expired!

A small but busy family practice clinic, with one MD and one PA, seeks a part-time certified medical assistant to add to our regular staff of two MAs. Hours are expected to be 10 am to 2 pm, four to five days per week. This schedule would be ideal for a parent who wants to be home during the school year when the kids are not in school.

Our clinic focuses on caring for patients in a compassionate and competent manner, with a personal touch. If you want to get away from the impersonal bureaucracy of a large organization, this is the right place for you.

The responsibilities of this position would be primarily to assist our two regular MAs with processing prescription refills, returning patient calls, calling patients about results of lab tests and imaging studies, and rooming patients.

Cleaning and preparing examination and procedure rooms prior to patient appointments.

Interviewing patients and measuring vital signs, confirming medications with patient along with drug and other allergies.

Rooming patients.

Assisting doctor with procedures.

Preparing requisitions as directed for lab tests and imaging.

Performing injections/immunizations, in-house testing, and EKGs as directed by provider, always following correct techniques and procedures.

Confirming authorizations for and documenting prescription refills or new prescriptions, ensuring that they are printed, electronically transmitted, or called in as appropriate.

Handling phone calls with patients in a timely and professional manner, to relay messages from providers about lab results, medication changes, or other topics.

Correctly handling specimens per provider orders, including appropriate identification, labeling, dating and disposal.

Sterilizing instruments, equipment and surfaces.

Accurately documenting all patient interactions in the electronic medical record.

Efficiently handling a large volume of paper documents in an organized fashion.
