Consider the role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and provide in-home health care to Youth.
As a DSP you will provide support in typical homes in the community where 3-4 youth (ages 10-21) live and receive direct support 24 hours a day. The youth may experience mental health disorders, ADHD, Autism spectrum, and other intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to help our young individuals learn basic living skills, community integration, and successfully transition into a more independent adulthood.
Many of the youth we support have challenging behaviors that require patience, understanding, and training in intervention and de-escalating techniques. As a DSP, you have the unique and incredible opportunity to enrich the daily life of a child with developmental disabilities in the comfort of their own home. Its not an institution, it's not a hospital, and its not a retirement home. It's real life.
The Qualifications
At least 21 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year equivalent of full time experience working with youth (Professional/Volunteer)
