The 501(c)3 non-profit research and human services charitable organization RPG Research (http://www.rpgresearch.com ) has multiple openings for webcast streaming and production technician positions.

RPG Research studies the effects of music and role-playing games, and their potential to improve lives, through our research, live streams, recorded media content, online training, and community programs.

This is a volunteer unpaid opportunity. Required to be on site in Spokane, Washington.

Reports To: Programs Director

Days/Hours: Part-time, 4-8 hours/week. Some flexibility on which days and times.

Schedules may vary, but example days/times available to pick (one) from include:

  • Sundays 1-4 pm
  • Mondays 7-10 pm
  • Fridays 4-7 pm
  • Saturdays 9 am - Noon

RPG Research has immediate need for multiple tabletop role-playing game masters, level I, volunteer trainees. We are willing train for the right candidates showing the right abilities, enthusiasm, performance, commitment level, and interest.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Run tabletop RPG sessions at various locations.
  • Typically 1-6 players per session.
  • Prepare adventures in accordance with RPG Research rules and guidelines, including GM Code of Conduct.
  • Complete assessment forms when appropriate.
  • Prepare character sheets for participants to choose from.
  • Run adventures ranging from "one shots" to ongoing mid-length and long-term campaigns.
  • Address any group interpersonal issues, and maintain players compliance with RPG Research Player Code of Conduct.
  • Attend either in-person, or via remote access, at least one free training session / administrative meeting per week (3-4 hours)
  • Availability for at least 2 regular group sessions per month (game sessions typically 3-5 hours) (in addition to training sessions).
  • Strongly self-motivated
  • Strong collaborative work ethic
  • Reliable schedule compliance

Education and Training

Required:

  • Must pass background check before allowed to work with clients.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of role-playing game system rules for at least one published game system (willing to train).
  • Assertive (not aggressive) presence with confident but warm, friendly, empathetic, and compassionate communication style.

Optional but helpful:

  • Experienced theatrical acting skills
  • Effective voice acting skills
  • Experienced broadcasting skills
  • Experienced audio/video skills
  • Experience with online broadcasting: Youtube, Twitch, etc.

Formats include: tabletop (RPG / TRPG / TTRPG), live-action (LRPG / Larp), electron / computer-based (ERPG / CRPG), and hybrids such as solo adventure books and modules (HRPG / SABM).

Working Conditions

Game Master will frequently work at RPG Research offices, or other locations including but not limited to:

  • Conventions
  • Libraries
  • Community centers
  • Educational institutions
  • Care facilities
  • Mobile Facility, the Wheelchair Friendly RPG Trailer at various locations

Hours: Training: 3-4 hours per week free training (we offer 2 training sessions per week, require attending at least one per week). Total around 3 to 8 hours per week.

Playing/GM: 3-10 hours per month (at least 2 sessions per month in addition to weekly training sessions).

Compensation: Volunteer (no financial compensation).
