OVERVIEW: Medical biller is responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid in a timely manner. Paperwork may include prescriptions, letters of medical necessity, CMN's, invoices, EOB's, remittance, checks, vouchers, and other electronic documents. Contact with insurance companies, state and federal agencies, as well as third-party intermediaries.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Assist in the smooth flow of paperwork, collect, organize and scan documents.
Fully understand and utilize computer billing system
Prepare reports
Identify and resolve issues in billing and collections
Generate billing statements to payers and customers
Prepare and submit electronic claims
Work denials
Record receivables
Take payments using credit cards processing system
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
6 months insurance billing experience in the medical field
Medical Terminology
Coding (Not necessary but helpful)
DME knowledge is a plus but not necessary
