The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for Associate Systems Engineers to join our Boeing Commercial Airplanes Equipment & Tool Engineering Core Integrated Product & Strategy located in Everett, WA or one of the locations listed above.

The Systems Engineers will help build the strategy, processes and standards needed for acquiring high quality production assets that meet the needs of production systems across the enterprise from day one. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to interface directly with stakeholders in production and industrial engineering, maintenance, safety, quality, supplier management, operations, and other organizations to develop complete solutions for Boeing production systems.

We know that in order to achieve that, we must design our production assets to meet the performance and quality requirements of the production system from day one. Our Standard Specification Process enables our engineers to author outsource packages with standard, verifiable, and high-quality requirements that acknowledge our assets as systems of systems that must be well integrated with our production systems and build plans.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to production hardening and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes for production asset procurement to effectively transform production system requirements, objectives, and build plans into high quality outsource packages for new production assets
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to develop requirements architecture, functional architecture, logical architecture, and verify production systems.
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success production readiness.
  • Evaluates the systematic approach to authoring production asset specifications, specification interface control documents, statements of work, and supplier data requirements lists.
  • Collaborates with enterprise stakeholders to develop and maintain tools and processes for effective standard procurement requirements for equipment and tooling assets
  • Works with subject matter experts and end users in engineering, maintenance, operations, and others to apply industry standards and best practices to our specifications for tooling and equipment acquisitions from internal and external sources
  • Trains and consults program customers on systems engineering approach to specification creation and acquisition of complex production systems
  • Creates or approves supporting processes and related documentation
  • Identifies operational improvements to maximize efficiency
  • Engages with teams across all Boeing Commercial Airplanes Programs and Fabrication in a hybrid work environment


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • Must currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience working in a systems engineering discipline
  • Experience with production systems in a manufacturing or engineering capacity


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Systems Engineering
  • Experience as a Systems Engineer, performing systems engineering, integration and test activities
  • Experience with CAMEO or equivalent solid modeling tool
  • Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tool
  • Experience in development program and standing up new production systems, activating factories, and defining key requirements for successful manufacturing execution
  • Experience in CONOPS development, trade studies, and requirements/interface definitions
  • Experience in systems engineering involving: system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis and evaluation, verification
  • Experience with APQP, MTconnect, machine states, network architecture, functional flow block diagrams, data analytics, and cybersecurity
  • Experience working to industry standards including compliance with electrical and safety codes
  • Experience working with hardware and/or software configuration management
  • Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • Experience in Automation and robotics
  • Experience working with Composites
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with both the engineering work force and the mechanics on the factory floor


Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
