Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a highly motivated Experienced Systems Safety Engineer (Level 3) based out of Tukwila, WA .The selected candidate will function as a member of the P-8 Poseidon Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT), performing System Safety duties in support of P-8 production and test aircraft. The ideal candidate will seamlessly coordinate across multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring continued safe operations of this Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft. Selection to join the highly-skilled P-8 System Safety Team will afford the selectee the excellent opportunity of not only fostering the advancement of U.S. Navy operations, but additionally those of our allied partners interested in strengthening maritime intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and search and rescue capabilities.This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the location listed.Position Responsibilities:Identify, analyze and mitigate potential hazards and risks associated with system designs in order to achieve enterprise and customer safety objectives while ensuring systems remain operationally responsive and effective.

Coordinate with engineering and technical activities supporting P-8 Program System Safety

Review engineering design specifications, test operations procedures, change proposals, deficiency reports, exceptions and/or deviation/waiver requests for potential flight/ground test safety impacts

Review and update System Safety deliverable documents (system safety hazard assessment report, safety assessment report, critical safety items report).

Ensure proper implementation of System Safety requirements into the design, test and operation of Boeing products.

Support risk assessment analyses for fleet/field issues.

Provide regular status reports to Boeing management, program management and Safety Review Boards.

Serve as resource authority in defining System Safety program fundamentals including risk identification, analysis and control of hardware and software hazards.

Prepare and present Safety of Flight data and Notice of Escapement safety assessments

Sustain and support the development of System Safety planning, requirements, analysis tools and data packages.

Support preparation of presentations, analyses and reports for customer and BDS safety review boards, System Safety Working Groups (SSWGs), program design reviews and test/mission readiness reviews.

Review bids and prepare proposals.

Support the development of safety mitigation plans.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

5+ years of experience in an engineering field

2+ years of experience in System Safety.

Excellent people skills, very strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners.

Strong decision making and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to be proactive, self-motivated, flexible and creative.

Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related System Safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

5+ years experience assisting in any of the following engineering areas: Analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification or product assurance or any other specialties engineering field.

Familiar with MIL-STD-882E, Fault Tree Analysis, Hazard Analysis and various forms of reliability modeling techniques.

5+ years of experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of sophisticated hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform.

Experience with aviation development programs.

Technical competency with project management concepts/tools.

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
