Here's what you'll do:

  • Participate in design discussion, develop and deliver resilient and scalable microservice architectures for channel and guide metadata processing
  • Mentor your fellow team members, upholding quality standards through peer code review and automated testing
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners and other engineering teams to design and architect robust end-to-end solutions
  • Own your services end-to-end, from ideation to production deployment and performance monitoring
  • Keep up to date with industry technology and be passionate about high-quality software engineering
  • Host demo presentations of POCs and development progress to peers and management

Here's what you'll need:
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of software development experience with client-server architectures and distributed systems
  • Experience with Java, GoLang, C#, or other high level programming languages
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell, Perl, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of microservices, database (SQL, NoSQL, etc.), communication protocols (HTTPS, SOAP, REST, etc.), and event-based messaging (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
  • A solid understanding of cloud computing services and management, container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and alerting/monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana and Kibana
  • Experience working with CSS, HTML, Javascript is a plus

Our Entertainment Data Services team is responsible for the OpenVideo Traffic system; a complex system managing the OpenVideo channels, guide events and blackouts across multiple service domains. We're a collaborative DevOps team that architects, designs, build, tests, deploys and supports all aspects of services built using software development principles (SAFe - Scaled Agile Framework, CI/CD, TDD) and leading-edge frameworks and technologies such as Spring Boot, Go, REST, Kafka, AWS cloud services, etc. You'll be a part of a team that isn't just imagining the future - we're creating it. This position can earn between $105,000 - $210,100. Not to mention all of the other amazing rewards that working at DIRECTV offers.
