Job Description

The

Home Equity Loan Processor Iposition is responsible for ensuring proper documentation is collected, supported, and verified in order to disburse funds for consumer fixed home equity loans and home equity lines of credit, all while adhering to STCU loan standards and federal regulations.

Principal Accountabilities
Loan Documentation

  • Prepare documentation and loan packages for all home equity loans for closing and perform a quality check on all completed packages. Coordinate closing and disbursement dates with the loan officer.
  • Assist loan officers in preparation of loan applications for the disbursement process in accordance with STCU Loan policy and procedures.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to loan applicants including all home equity loan disclosures.
  • Provide necessary documentation to guarantee approved lien position to the credit union.

Loan Closings

  • Coordinate loan closings directly with the member and loan officer. Prepare documentation and loan packages for closing and conduct loan follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Protect the credit union's interest by ensuring that all requirements set by the approving authority are met before funds are disbursed.

Loan Servicing

  • Process payoffs, homeowner’s insurance tracking, flood tracking, subordination processing and re-conveyance in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist members, vendors, etc. with inquiries ensuring a timely response.

Departmental Support

  • Provide operational support as needed in support of Lending Center member relationships and strategic goals of the department and organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual HMDA report upon request.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, forms and marketing materials for the department and place orders as needed.
  • Input and maintain data in the Lending Center Log for tracking of departmental goals and updating statistical reports.
  • Assemble loan files and reviews documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Retrieve, process and distribute mail for the department.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year previous experience in consumer and/or mortgage processing/documentation and/or origination is required including knowledge of mortgage terms, title insurance, and procedures, either form an origination or processing background.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience in keyboarding/PC and 10-key calculator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
