Position Summary:
Performs all echo sonography procedures while working under the direction of the Echo Medical Director. Responsibilities include training and supervision of echo staff/sonographers, implementation of laboratory operations, quality improvement, exam schedule and staffing coordination. Additionally, responsible for departmental policies and protocols to ensure compliance with the standards for program accreditation. Position Reports To: Reports to Cardiovascular Manager.Essential Functions:
Prepares for and performs diagnostic medical sonography examinations and procedures in accordance with professional and facility protocols in a safe manner as instructed.
Responsible for technical training of Sonographers/technologists and students performing the full range of echocardiography tests as well as in-service education for other medical staff.
Oversees patient scheduling procedures pertaining to the echo laboratory and ensures exam schedule and staffing levels are coordinated.
Supervises the daily operations of the echo laboratory.
Responsible for the maintenance of echo laboratory accreditation via ICAEL.
Responsible for developing and maintaining echo laboratory protocols and policies (in conjunction with Echo Lab Medical Director).
Coordinates the preparation and presentation of quarterly Echo QA meetings and/or presents echo lab case studies with correlations.
Provides input to research, develop, and formulate new techniques and/or exams for echo lab procedures & coordinates the evaluation of new equipment for the lab.
Maintains licensures/certifications in current and good standing and complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Required:
High School / GED
Supervisory Experience:
4 years relevant experience, 2 of which must be direct supervision of employees.
Internal candidates may use 4 years of relevant experience.
Licensure:
Completion of an accredited program with the CAAHEP in Echocardiography
Certification in the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Echo Sonography Training/Experience:
Satisfactory completion of a formal echo sonography training program
4 years full time clinical experience in a dedicated Echocardiography Lab.
