BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications Officers are the heartbeat of Public Safety operations. As a 911 professional at Rivercomm Communications Center you will provide the critical link between citizens in need and a myriad of Public Safety professionals including Police, Fire, and Medics.

All successfully hired candidates will begin their career as a Communications Officer I (Call Receiver) and are expected to transition into the Communications Officer II (Dispatcher) role after successful completion of probationary period, depending on operational necessity.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

Answers emergency and non-emergency calls for service, simultaneously enters this information into the computer using a CAD System and continues to enter updates in a timely manner.

Calms, negotiates, advises and otherwise communicates with callers to obtain accurate and essential information necessary to establish priority and initiate a timely response to emergency calls.

Be reliable, dependable and report for work on a consistent and predictable basis.

Shift work encompassing a 24-hour day, seven-day week; inclusive of odd hours, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

RIVERCOM 911 - Telecommunicator has 9 vacancies.

RiverCom maintains a list of job candidates as scores are received from Public Safety Testing. Selected candidates receive an invitation to apply for the position of Telecommunicator. Oral board interviews are conducted on either an as-needed basis and as positions become available or to establish a hiring list. As positions become available, candidates must successfully complete the pre-employment process before start of employment.

Even after positions have been filled, RiverCom will continue to accept testing scores and conduct interviews for the purpose of establishing a Hiring Eligibility List. Such candidates will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year from the date of their interview. RiverCom will utilize the Hiring Eligibility List for hiring purposes as positions become available.

RIVERCOM is a 2-county Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) located in Wenatchee, Washington that serves Chelan and Douglas counties. RIVERCOM operates twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week processing emergency 911 and non-emergency calls-for-service and dispatching twenty-three (23) law, fire, and emergency medical public safety agencies within Chelan and Douglas counties. RiverCom’s range of service covers approximately 4,750 square miles - from Stevens Pass to Blewett Pass and from Grand Coulee Dam to Crescent Bar and serves a population of about 120,000 residents.
