State Parks is governed by a board of seven volunteer citizens appointed by the Governor. Commission members serve staggered six-year terms, setting public policy and guiding the agency. The Washington state park system includes more than 100 developed parks, recreation programs, trails, boating safety and winter recreation.

Washington State Parks employs more than 500 permanent staff and more than 350 seasonal and temporary staff throughout the state. The headquarters office is located in Tumwater, and region offices are located in Burlington, East Wenatchee and Tumwater.

This recruitment is for one full-time, permanent-seasonal Senior Park Aide position at Alta Lake State Park located in Okanogan County, Washington.

The season dates for this position are April 1st (4/1) through September 30th (9/30), yearly.

DUTIES:

Under general supervision by the Park Ranger, this position independently performs duties that include park maintenance, operations and public relations. The position will have lead worker responsibilities and will be responsible for Alta Lake State Park operations, in conjunction with the Park Ranger 3, when the assigned Park Ranger 2 is not available or the position is unfilled.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Completes and leads other staff in the following areas:

Cleans and performs maintenance on campsites, picnic sites, trails and roads. This includes removing

and disposing of ashes from stoves and BBQ's, Cleaning tables, picking up and disposing of litter and raking and removing debris from the grounds with hand tools and larger equipment.

Maintains park lawns using a mower, weed eaters, trimmers and various other tools. This includes cleaning the equipment, fueling and maintaining, recording use and reporting any problems.

Cleans and performs maintenance on all park building including restrooms using various cleaning campgrounds and supplies. Cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, walls, fixtures, doors and building

exteriors. Performs maintenance on light fixtures, painted surfaces, plumbing and minor structure repairs.

Provide primary customer service functions:

Maintain a basic understanding of CAMIS system hardware and software.

Ensure the efficiency of reservation system operation by guiding parks staff on CAMIS process

and procedures.

Provide information to educate the public regarding park rules and regulations, local events, activities and historic information.

Communicates regularly with supervisor regarding status of park operations, maintenance, customer service and staff.

Completes and assists with administrative duties as needed; to include daily reconciliation of funds collected.

Participates in agency training requirements and follows uniform standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Twelve (12) months of experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping, or performing semi-skilled/general carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.

OR

Six (6) months cumulative experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent), or twelve (12) months experience in a special employment program (Washington Conservation Corps) with a parks agency. A combination of experience (WCC and Park Aide) may be used provided candidate has at least three months experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).

AND

A valid unrestricted driver's license (other than corrective lenses).

At least 18 years old.
