Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine enrolling a total of 560 medical students with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. This position primarily functions as the on-campus contact for applicant advising and supports the overall department goals and objectives. Daily responsibilities include phone, in-person, and email advising, and guiding individual and group tours requiring a student/customer service oriented individual. This position assists with community outreach, applicant interviews, and application review. This person will need to become familiar with university procedures, policies, and services in order to assist applicants, students, potential students, their families, faculty, staff, and university visitors. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Services.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a communication plan with prospective students and pre-health advisors using best practices that improve and maintain customer service
Advise prospective students in-person, by phone, and email on admission process and the University in a one-on-one and group setting
Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, families, advisors, and other individuals and groups. Plan and implement recruitment events and tours for both individuals and groups, some may occur outside of normal work hours and require some travel
Review and score admission applications for the purpose of making admission decisions, data entry and notes maintained in a secured information system
Assists with monitoring and maintaining web pages for department
Complete routine reports related to recruitment and applications;
Follows federal financial aid policies and procedures when counseling prospective students
Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
Conduct appropriate and consistent with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
Other duties as assigned
Required: Bachelor's Degree
One to three years of higher education experience preferred

Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct work flow; ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; ability to schedule travel, activities and/or meetings; valid driver's license; Microsoft Office Suite.
