Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician: Technical Drawings Instructor

Position Type: Part-Time | 50 Hours over 8-12 Weeks (This position is benefits eligible).
Compensation: $39.00/Hour
Travel Required: This position requires travel to Yakima Valley Community College one night a week during the course of the 8-12 weeks.
Required Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as a maintenance technician in the aerospace-oriented manufacturing industry

About this Job: We are seeking an innovative and experienced industrial maintenance technician to instruct our Technical Drawings apprenticeship class at Yakima Valley College. Instructors use AJACs curriculum to teach current apprentices a variety of key industrial maintenance concepts and skills in both a classroom and lab environment.
Some key duties of this position include:
Teach apprentices to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics, as well as basic drafting
Use our online system to report apprentice attendance and progress on a weekly basis
Able to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including working effectively in both the classroom and the lab environment
Establish guidelines and manage conduct of students as appropriate for the classroom and shop
Work with the Program Director and make suggestions regarding the curriculum to ensure apprentices receive training in machining operations that address industry needs
Participate in instructor training and curriculum development meetings
Communicate effectively in oral and written English
Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications:
Industry knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:
Technical Drawings
Preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of machines and electronic equipment
Installation, operation and maintenance of all types of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components of production equipment
Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems using schematics and technical drawings
Using machine tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices to fabricate machine parts
Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
Lifting and rigging using cranes, hoists or other material handling equipment
Ability to work with diverse populations in a team environment
Apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Journey-Level machinist or equivalent
Prior experience teaching or mentoring in a college, technical, or vocational environment
Current first aid and CPR certification
