Position serves as a liaison and source of patient


growth between referring physicians and any referral sources for Hospice.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION,



CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.



Bachelors Degree in marketing, public


relations, or health related field.



2.



Must possess valid WV or neighboring


state drivers license and must maintain WV or neighboring state minimum auto


insurance.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION,



CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.



Registered Nurse with valid WV or


neighboring state nursing license



EXPERIENCE:

1.



Sales


experience preferred



2.



One (1) year of public relations


experience preferred.



3.



Experience in hospice as an RN


clinician or hospice operations



CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The


statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work


being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not

1.



Meets in person with targeted service area


physicians along with other referral sources and/or their office staff, to


communicate Hospice services, personnel, special programs


and other items of interest. This


is for all hospice service areas.



2.



Handles concerns or complaints


expressed on those visits, by contacting the appropriate authority at the


specific hospice location.



3.



Persuades physician offices of the


quality and expertise of Hospice.



4.



Collects and reports competitive


intelligence collected from referral related visits, to Hospice leadership.



5.



Meets with all leadership to learn of


new programs, ad campaigns, etc., as well as determine communication pieces


for distribution to referring physician office/public.



6.



Prepares weekly written reports of


activities and findings, for distribution to Director and other stakeholders.


Utilizes the EPIC referral report and notes weekly where referrals were


generated and through that report when referrals are lagging.



7.



Travels as much as necessary in a


one-day period to visit potential referral sources. May do admissions as needed


in emergent situations to meet patient needs and secure referrals. Must


perform admissions and documentation that is acceptable.



8.



Keeps personal calendar to track


scheduled visits to potential referral sources.



9.



Promotes Hospice services, programs


and facilities in referral area for the purpose of facilitating referrals.



10.



Assists with the development of


strategies and programs designed to benefit patient referrals for Hospice.



11.



Conducts


research with external providers on various programs to determine


effectiveness of existing systems, programs, and referral process.

WORKING

frame, to physicians and staff during working hours during the week, and also in normal business hours when not on job, as


possible. This may include occasional weekend work for health fairs and community


events.

Faces highly unpredictable situations


related to travel conditions as well as rapidly changing schedules of physicians,


which may require particular flexibility, i.e. to reschedule an appointment


later in the day or schedule an appointment with another physician in the


area on an ad hoc basis to capitalize on being in a particular area.

Exposed to high levels of stress and


anxiety.

Must be an excellent communicator to physician


and/or the office manager or other referral sources.

Must be a good listener and be able to retain facts from


notes and personal observations for recording in greater detail following an


appointment.

Must


possess or have the aptitude to learn a significant number of clinical terms


related to medical practice and hospice services and procedures especially as


it relates to hospice.



4.



Must


be able to cope with rapidly changing situations, such as abrupt changes in


scheduled appointments.



5.



Must


be able to deal with strong personalities and egos, and be able to hear very


strong criticism and projected emotions without taking them personally.



6.



Must


be able to always present herself or himself in a professional manner on the


job, as a personal reflection of WVUHS HomeCare

Must


be capable of handling information of a confidential nature.

Must


have the ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions, and
