Eaton's Electrical Sector, Power Systems Division (PSD), is currently seeking a Lead System Automation QA Engineer to join our team. This position is located in our Franksville, WI facility. This position is hybrid/remote as long as you live within 50 miles of our location. Relocation will be provided if needed (US Only)

Position Overview:

The Lead System Automation QA Engineer will define the test strategy and develop test plans and procedures to verify the functionality of our Embedded and Application Software for real-time controls and protective relays used for smart grid applications in the electrical power distribution industry. The position will be part of a multi-disciplined new product engineering team at Eaton's Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI.

We are looking for motivated professionals with strong skills in software testing and good communication skills who will play a key role in verifying and validating the next-generation technology solutions that change how users connect, explore, and interact with information and devices. Success in this position requires working effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives, and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. We are looking for candidates who can see the bigger picture strength in a system-level viewpoint is necessary. Problem solvers who are excited about learning new technologies, coding scripts, and designing infrastructure in an automation-first environment will excel in this environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Defines test strategy, develops detailed test plans, specifications, test cases, and test data sets that validate functional, performance, and load test requirements, and update existing test procedures based on requirement changes and test analysis.
  • Develops, executes, and maintains extensible automated tests skillsets in Python, Java, and C# required.
  • Designs and implements robust, scalable, high-quality Test Automation Suites within a Continuous Integration and Deployment environment to improve the quality and productivity of functional, regression, and system tests.
  • Leads and participates in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents interacts with Management, Architects, and other Leads in a one-to-one or one-to-many meeting format.
  • Analyze test results, and identify, document, and report root causes for test failures by working with the development team and the defect tracking system.
  • Communicates technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders strong verbal, documentation and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Identifies opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements and drives those from concept to implementation.
  • Validates official customer product releases and takes responsibility for the end result.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in QA, systems engineering, or software development
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Software development & Test or Test tool development
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with network-enabled communications protocols, message queues, and databases
  • Development experience in Python or other scripting languages 1+ years in other object-oriented languages such as Java, C#, etc.
  • Experience in a Team Lead role directing the tasks and work
  • Experience with creating and defining test plans and test cases for embedded and application software for real-time controls at a system level
  • Experience working in an Agile SCRUM development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in Data-Driven testing approaches
  • Experience in backend physical resource testing, notably memory, CPU load, and disk IO
  • Experience developing software testing harness/tools for Linux environments and Windows applications experience writing integration tests for Continuous Integration and Deployment frameworks.
