Summary of Role

The Social Media Manager (SMM) is responsible for overseeing and advancing CROPP’s social media & influencer marketing efforts, to provide world-class social media content and experiences for our consumers. The SMM must closely collaborate with other marketing managers to shape proposals and solutions that satisfy marketing requirements while successfully achieving brand harmonization and campaign synergy. This position is responsible for day-to-day management of all social media channels for Organic Valley, Organic Prairie and other CROPP brands. The SMM promotes collaboration and teamwork within interactive marketing and with others to foster motivation, increased productivity and ensure the highest level of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

o Lead team responsible for CROPP’s social media and influencer marketing programs.

o Develop strategies to scale and grow CROPP brands social presence across platforms.


o Develop strategies to scale and grow influencer marketing program.

o Develop and manage content strategy, engagement strategy, brand love strategy and promotion strategy for social and influencer marketing, working cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, Integrated Marketing, PR and external agencies.


o Work with Promotions Marketing team to created integrated social media strategies that align with sales objectives for key retail partners and our growing owned E-com business.

o Set, track and report on goals and KPIs for CROPP’s social media and influencer marketing programs that help achieve overall marketing goals.

o Manage relationships with outside agencies, freelancers, vendors and brand partners who support our social media and influencer efforts.

o Manage social media and influencer budget, include: setting and tracking budget spend priorities, and measuring overall results against plan.


o Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching and career development planning for team members.


o Collaborate with digital marketing, video marketing & creative teams to ensure consistent look/tone across our social and influencer channels.


o Ensure the department’s messaging integration with the Consumer Relations team.

o Develop strategies for crisis communication in collaboration with PR.

o Establish benchmarks and best practices for measuring the impact of Social Media campaigns. Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.

o Create and deliver reports and presentations on social media campaigns to upper management, so that they can effectively understand the impact and ROI of our social media activity and advertising.

o Ensure our social media programs and advertising follow current laws and ethical best practices.

o Research and be a thought leader in best practices on all things social.

o Work with agency partners to identify new optimization tests and growth opportunities and areas for additional investment.



Additional Duties and Responsibilities

o Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

o Bachelor’s degree required.

o 5+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing or a related field.


o 3 years’ experience overseeing a large-scale social media program, preferably for a food or consumer packaged goods brand.

o Strong knowledge of consumer relations processes and tools.

o Innate passion for communicating through new media channels and understanding what motivates people to engage in social media.

o Comprehensive knowledge of the current social media landscape capabilities of each channel.


o Proficiency with social media metrics and experience using social media analytics tools to inform social strategies and create reports for senior management.

o Experience managing people, teams and projects.

o Proven leadership abilities with a strong understanding of what motivates individuals and fosters successful teams.

o Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal.


o Proven success collaborating with multiple stakeholder and teams on projects

o Knowledge of and passion for organic agriculture and food highly preferred.


o Strong presentation skills; comfortable speaking to a variety of stakeholder groups.


o Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively with others under limited supervision.

o Ability to travel as needed.
