PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The bilingual Urban Community Collaboration Coordinator is a part-time temporary position that serves parishes and schools within a defined geography under the advisement of an active Parish Mission Planning Advisory Council (primarily pastors and principals, or their designated appointees). This position reports directly to the Living Justice Advocate and serves as a liaison to a variety of Curia functional offices as necessary. Under the supervision of the Living Justice Advocate the Coordinator serves enthusiastically as the coordination point person between parishes and schools in support of the priorities, goals and projects established by the Parish Mission Planning Advisory Council. Scope of work includes: assemble and direct cross functional teams to leverage and coordinate community services, events, trainings, and collaborative faith formation.

This is a temporary part time 19 hour per week position and is expected to last 12 months in duration. The position may be extended as needed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of basic human needs required for full engagement in life and community services available to assist individuals in meeting those needs.
  • Knowledge of cultural differences among parish communities
  • Knowledge of Catholic teachings and be a practicing Catholic.
  • Knowledge of communication strategies to effectively receive and deliver messages to multiple groups.
  • Knowledge of local church structure and hierarchy
  • Experience working or volunteering in human services agency, community oriented and family centered ministries
  • Experience working with education, civic and non-profit service organizations
  • Must be Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Skilled at coordinating and aligning services to meet basic human needs for others
  • Skilled in the use of social media, email, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience coordinating and leading committee meetings with a timed meeting agenda.
  • Experience coordinating all aspects of an event (workshops, meetings, etc.).
  • Skilled in delivery and action while maintain a strong people oriented environment.
  • Ability multi-task with the ability to plan and execute programs and services as needed.
  • Ability to set priorities through leadership and vision initiatives.
  • Ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively and with good follow through.
  • Ability to effectively reach goals by working as part of a team or individually.
  • Ability to be sensitive to a diverse population.
  • Ability to be empathetic to the situations and needs of others
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate on the telephone in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Ability to speak publicly within different venues including parish or school meetings, boards, councils, committees, conferences, and workshops.
