This diverse, multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide exceptional relationship-based care to those who are acutely ill as well as those facing imminent, end of life issues. Accountability, flexibility, and self-motivation are necessary to thrive in the critical care environment and to be part of this ICU team. Our team strives to consistently provide the highest quality of care by continuously adopting current evidence-based best practices. The intensivist model we use includes having a provider on campus from 0700-1900, and then on call during the night hours. We also have a 24/7 collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Rochester’s Enhanced Critical Care Unit. Our leadership utilizes a shared decision-making model and servant leadership to empower staff and encourage continuous growth and development.Our Intensive Care Unit provides care for the following: Medical, Surgical, Medical Cardiac, Level 3 Trauma, Neuro Medical/Surgical, Pediatric Intermediate Care, and Detox/Behavioral Health.Position descriptionEssential Functions: Assembles charts: admission, transfer & discharge. Uses Electronic Health Record (EHR) to enter data for admissions, transfers & discharges. Communicates patient information to appropriate team members: nursing, other departments, providers. Completes appropriate forms: computer,paper documentation forms. Obtains records, charts, lab and x-ray reports via computer/ or paper chart. Performs receptionist functions with patient's relatives and staff. Assists nursing staff as delegated in performing patient care activities according to established policies/procedures. Measures and records vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respirations and temperature. Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) including mobility, elimination, and nutrition. Assists in the proper lifting of patients utilizing Gait belt and/or E-Z lift or appropriate lift system as indicated. Documents patient cares in accordance with documentation guidelines (i.e., intake, output, height, weight, vital signs, flowsheets, comfort levels). Participates in departmental activities and pursues ongoing education programs to maintain and develop skills. Provides care appropriate to the age and ability of patients served. Maintains a clean and safe environment including equipment maintenance and setup. Helps in maintaining and organizing supplies and equipment. Practices Relationship Based Care Skills. Demonstrates knowledge of unit care standards. Completes all organizational/departmental requirements and education.QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge and skills. Ability to multitask, work well under pressure and meet deadlines, demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Flexibility (Works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, and/or nights, holidays, and weekends). Self-directed. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations.Additional qualificationsSuccessful completion of a health unit coordinator program or comparable experience (preferred). Current CHUC certification (preferred).License or certificationCertified Nursing Assistant or State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry (required to be in "non-expired" status upon hire; required to regularly renew certification). Current BLS Certification.Exemption statusNon-exemptCompensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
