Position Summary:
The Worship Leader will lead one or more weekend worship services. We are specifically searching for someone to lead our 8 a.m. traditional (i.e. hymns) service and our 10 a.m. contemporary service. We will hire one or more individuals to fill our worship music needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Worship Leader is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
Continue to grow and mature in Christ as a godly person of integrity. Strong sense of calling and identity in Christ. Demonstrated leadership in being able to disciple those in his/her sphere of influence.
Provide leadership, vision, and passion for Olivet in the area of music worship ministries that is in line with the overall mission, vision, and purpose of our church.
Coordinate with the Senior Pastor to create and lead well-planned and engaging worship services. This includes leading one or more of the weekend worship services, recruiting and developing the worship team, and scheduling the attendance of the band and guest musicians. Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals, as well as consulting with the Senior Pastor to coordinate the music for the weekend services.
Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability. Capability of leading with a keyboard is preferred.
Work within an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.
Attend a weekly staff meeting with the Senior Pastor and participate in the planning and implementation of church programs that will fulfill the mission and vision of the church.
Assist in planning, implementing and leading worship for special events outside of weekend worship services including, but not limited to, Holy Week, Easter and Christmas.
When available, perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
The ideal Worship Leader will demonstrate competence in the following areas:
Proficiency reading, arranging, playing and singing music
Knowledge of standard Worship Leader responsibilities
The ability to communicate effectively
A Self-Starter and proactive learner with strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
Theological, cultural, and philosophical alignment with Olivet and Olivet Pastors
Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency; ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, create and implement actions plans and monitor progress towards goals; and ability to make clear, timely decisions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to function effectively with the appropriate authority as determined by Senior Pastor
Maintain positive, professional working relationships with others, both internally and externally
Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness; ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary; able to take directives from Pastors & others; must be self-motivated
Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of the Pastors to meet their expectations
COMPENSATION AND TERMS:
Compensation: Will be based on experience and skill level.
Hours of Employment: Employee is to be employed part-time. Hours will be determined based on the scope of job duties of employee.
