WHY?
Higher wages There are many benefits to being a Union Laborer. Perhaps the most visible and immediate is pay.
On average, a union Laborer in the state of Wisconsin can expect to earn between 30% and 50% more an hour than a non-union worker performing the same type of work. That figure does not include health and pension benefits.
Health Care . . . Another benefit for members is family health care coverage. Laborers' Health Care includes coverage for:
Hospitalization
Prescription Drug program
Chiropractic
Home Health Care
Dental
Accident & Sickness Benefit
Vision
Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Hearing Aid
Death Benefit
Retirement Security . . . Retirees and many more spouses count on Laborers Pension Funds to provide economic security long into retirement. Laborer pension plans are defined benefit plans. That means the benefit provided remains stable through-out your retirement
