Position Summary: The Office Assistant & Communications position is responsible for creating, coordinating, and producing high quality, visual communications and providing office assistance in support of the mission and vision of the church.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Office Support

Main office receptionist, answering phone, greeting and assisting visitors.

Supports church staff in completing regular office work; delegate tasks to Weekend Office Support personnel as needed.

Facilitate excellent design and content creation for internal and external communication, including, but not limited to, church website, social media, marketing materials, weekly and monthly Beacons.

Maintain church master calendar and manage building usage.

Assist in maintaining office equipment, computer systems, church files and records.

Maintain and monitor inventory of office supplies and reorder as needed.

Maintain Connection Center and welcome materials.

Worship Service Support

Prepares worship service slides, worship media and bulletins.

Schedules worship assistants (ushers, greeters, readers, communion assistants, counters, altar guild, and connection center).

Prepare service slides and schedule assistants for special services when needed, i.e. funerals.

Develop and maintain training materials and procedures for worship assistants.

Event Coordinator

Church event coordinator, assisting event teams with timelines, promotion and implementation.

Prepare sign-up sheets, posters and displays for events as needed.

Coordinate building usage by outside groups and non-church eventsensure calendar availability; facilitate event needs; building walk-through and procedures (lights, heat, kitchen facilities, clean-up and building opening and closing).

Administrative

Participate in weekly staff meetings, and other meetings as needed.

Qualifications for the Position:

Punctual, organized, and great at time-management.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superb attention to detail”including a keen eye for errors and correction.

Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, electronic communication, social media, and the ability to learn church membership software.

Practice, emphasize, and foster effective communication in the church organization.

Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.

A commitment to the mission and values of the church.

Adheres to Staff Covenant.

Subject to a background check.

Hours and Compensation:

Position is approximately 30 hours per week. Weekend work is not required. Starting wage is approximately $15 per hour, subject to experience.
