Altra is hiring a Real Estate Loan Underwriter to ensure that all mortgage loan files are complete, accurate, and meet Credit Union or lending agency guidelines through a comprehensive review of each file. Persons in this position provide final loan approval for all secondary market, private investor loan applications, and portfolio loan applications up to the individual lending limit. This person serves as Altra's liaison with various secondary market, private investors, and private mortgage insurance companies.
Qualified candidates will be required to have an Associates degree or specialized coursework; Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is preferred. Minimum three (3) years mortgage experience is required. Two (2) years of underwriting experience is preferred and one (1) year of experience underwriting FHA and Federal VA loans is preferred.
To succeed in this position, candidates must have a solid understanding of secondary market and private investor guidelines, NCUA rules and regulations, and any other laws effecting mortgage lending. A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills, independence, and decision making skills are required.
This position is full time, 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday and is located at the Operations Center in Onalaska, WI, however, telecommuting / work from home decisions will be considered for the hired applicant.
