Humane Education Coordinator
Hours flexible (25 hours/week to full-time)
At Heartland Farm Sanctuary, our mission is to inspire compassion for all beings. We provide specialized care to rescued farm animals, offer inclusive humane education programs for learners of all ages, and provide experiential therapy to ensure the Heartland community is accessible for everyone. Our sanctuary is a safe, welcoming space where people and farm animals come together to experience growth, healing and connection.
How You Will Make a Difference:
As a Humane Education Coordinator, you will play an integral role by creating and facilitating exceptional humane education experiences and sharing our mission of inspiring compassion for all beings. You will teach unique humane education curriculum and help develop the next generation of empathetic change agents. Most importantly, you will be responsible for upholding Heartland’s value of providing inclusive and safe spaces for all children.
The Humane Education Coordinator will be responsible for:
Creating activities based on Heartland’s humane education curriculum
Teaching classes, camps and clubs
Creating dynamic educational environments
Supporting inclusive and safe learning spaces
Maintaining inventory and tracking supplies for ordering and budget maintenance
Assisting with training new Humane Education staff
Attendance at staff and program meetings
Creating opportunities for humane education growth
Working during some evenings and weekends

Desirable Skills and Qualifications for the Humane Education Coordinator are:
A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Heartland Farm Sanctuary
2+ years of experience in a similar role (strongly preferred)
Adaptability and growth mindset
A solid understanding of Humane Education principles (or willingness to learn)
Commitment to interorganizational collaboration
Professional demeanor and strong interactive skills
Outstanding organizational skills
Sound judgment and discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Independence, creativity, and proactivity are essential
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Details
Employment Type: Hourly
Compensation: $15-$18/hour
Reports to: Program Director
Bonuses: Unlimited goat and sheep snuggles, plenty of peaceful pasture time with the llamas, and witnessing hilarious antics from ALL our rescued animals.
