Summary: The Ads Research team is a research and analytics group focused on understanding the value of advertising to both advertisers and consumers which we use to influence and engage externally with the Advertising Industry. In service of this goal, the team focuses on key advertising industry topics, conducts research on and off of Meta, collaborates with external vendors and partners, and publishes to help drive broad understanding of the evolving ecosystem. The Quantitative Research team is tasked with designing and executing research and prototyping measurement methodologies. Research will focus on leveraging large data sets and developing experiments to support empirical points of view on online advertising topics.We seek an expert in working with large data sets, developing machine learning models and experimental design/statistical analysis. Expert knowledge of data access tools (e.g., SQL, Hive, Presto, Spark), scripting languages (e.g., Python) and a data analysis language/tools (e.g., R, Python, Jupyter) will be needed for this role. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in data engineering and machine learning and, is scrappy, focused on results, self-motivated and has a history of solving problems with data solutions.This research is instrumental in informing Meta’s advertising product strategy, advertising strategies recommended to Meta clients, and pressing issues in the advertising industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and research methods.Required Skills: Quantitative Researcher Responsibilities:Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to measure and communicate data-driven insights to relevant online advertising problems

Assess the validity and rigor of new data sources and approaches in their use toward applied research audience insights

Proactive creation of custom advertising research driven to show value, insights, or missed opportunities

Oversee data-focused initiatives already in place and being developed, and drive developments in the quality of these initiatives

Partner closely with ad industry groups, advertisers, agencies and internal teams for joint project collaboration

Package research insights effectively for both internal and external audiences

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:3+ years of work experience in a quantitative field, such as consulting or market research

Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or similar quantitative field

Experience interacting with a full development suite of tools (Linux environments, Python, Git, etc.)

Experience processing large data sets with Hive, Presto, or Spark

Experience in a data analysis language such as Python (with pandas, scikit-learn, etc.) or R (with dplyr, ggplot2, etc.)

Experience in building end-to-end data tools or machine learning solutions to analytical problems

Experience in communicating analyses and results to any audience

Knowledge of research design and applied statistics including sampling approaches, experiments and data mining techniques

Knowledge and applied experience with designing analytical models and mining large datasets

Programming skills, suitable for developing scalable research prototypes within a Hive and Linux environment

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Experience in applied research with focus areas such as media consumption, consumer behavior or marketing effectiveness

Advanced Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or similar quantitative field
