The University of Wisconsin - Madison, Department of Dairy Science, is currently seeking two hardworking, reliable employees to become an Animal Research Technicians at the Emmons Blaine Dairy Research Center located on the Arlington Agricultural Research Station in Arlington, WI. The Blaine Dairy is home to 500 milking cows, 75 dry cows, and 100 neonatal heifer calves. This industry leading facility is in need of employees who are willing to learn, and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in order to help ensure the highest levels of animal care and the collection of accurate research data.

This position is involved in all aspects of research dairy operations, including but not limited to, milking, feeding, cleaning, handling, and animal health observations at the facility. The incumbent in this position must work with limited supervision to collect, process, and composite milk samples according to established standard operating procedures. The incumbent must be skilled at following oral and written instructions as directed by management and research protocols. Also, the person in this position must understand basic arithmetic functions and be adept at performing them with no guidance.

Scheduling for this position will vary dependent on operational needs, but the shifts are 3:30AM-12:00PM and 12:30PM-9:00PM with the afternoon shift being the shift with the most amount of need. All employees will work 4 days during the week and a rotating weekend schedule to include every other weekend. Some part-time positions may be available but will still include weekend work. A minimum compensation of $13.27-$14.27/hour and a full benefits package will be offered to the selected full-time candidates.
