We are seeking a current or former farmer or current agricultural under grad or grad student with for part time work. Our farm includes a 200 tree orchard of apples, cherries and pears, asparagus, hazelnuts.
50 beehives in place and doing well.
Experience with chain saws, planting, fencing, pruning, grafting, spraying, planning, fencing, fertilizing, pest control, burns, farm equipment all desirable. Probably around 15 hours per week through the fall, some work year round. Peak hours are in the summer. Right now I have hours pruning, fertilizing, spraying and planning.
Must be handy with tools and have own transportation. Graduate students/interns welcome. farming, organic, farm-to-table, apple, cider, orchards, certification. Possibility of additional hours working with other organic farms nearby.
Farm equipment includes John Deere Gator, trailer, brand new BCS 849 with flail mower and sickle bar mower, Tiller, 12 gallon powered sprayer for the bed of the Gator.
Open to permaculture plantings including elderberries, raspberries, blackberries, asparagus. Less interested in row crops. Open to joint venture offers as well. If you are interested in small scale farming and don't have access to land shoot me a note. I'll cover the costs if you do the work.
We'll split the produce!
