Position: Eviction Prevention Case Manager
Hours: Full time, limited evenings/weekend work required

Reporting: Eviction Prevention case managers report directly to the Homeless Services Program Director
Description:
Eviction Prevention case managers provide services and financial assistance to program participants within our Eviction Prevention Program. Eviction Prevention is a short-term program that works with people in Dane County who are at risk of being evicted from their home. People working within this program provide housing stabilization case management and financial assistance to people who are being evicted, as well as short-term assistance with finding housing for people who have been evicted from their home. This program also encompasses the Coordinated Entry Eviction Prevention Program which screens applicants in need of financial assistance throughout Dane County.
Job Duties:
Provide housing case management focused on securing housing stability with program participants who are either experiencing homelessness or housing instability
Employ a housing-first strategy and philosophy when working with participants
Connect with landlords in the community in order to assist participants in finding their own housing
Create individualized housing plans and set goals with participants; have flexibility around participant needs and update plans as appropriate
Connect participants with other agencies that can provide non-housing-related services as needed
Maintain case notes of participant meetings and record all services provided to participants in the homeless management information system (HMIS)
Remain up to date on HMIS trainings
Understand and ensure compliance with detailed program regulations regarding services provided and documentation collected
Attend regular supervision, case management meetings, and relevant trainings
Receive training on other homeless services case management programs within Tenant Resource Center as assigned and maintain competency in those programs; provide services to participants from other programs as needed and fill in for other case managers when they are out of the office
Receive housing counseling training and update training as needed (at a minimum of once per year) in order to provide well-informed housing services to program participants
Eviction Prevention Program Specific Responsibilities:
Provide short-term housing case management (up to 3 months) focused on stabilizing participants who are at risk of losing their current housing through eviction; manage a caseload of approximately 15 individuals or families
Complete screening assessments with people who are requesting eviction prevention assistance throughout Dane County; evaluate whether applicants are eligible for Tenant Resource Center assistance, and refer people who are ineligible to other agencies for assistance
Manage and maintain the coordinated entry eviction prevention screening tool which is used throughout the Dane County Homeless Services Consortium
Collaborate with other agencies within the Homeless Services Consortium to maximize effectiveness of the eviction prevention screening tool
Work with participants throughout Dane County; most participant meetings will occur either within the Tenant Resource Center office or at the Dane County Courthouse
Ensure a presence from Tenant Resource Center at eviction court every Tuesday
Requirements and Qualifications:
BSW, related degree, or 1 year of homeless services/case management experience required; applicants with MSW or related degree preferred
Applicants who do not hold educational or experimental requirements but believe they hold necessary skills from other means are encouraged to apply
Spanish language speakers strongly encouraged to apply
Ability to hold compassion and empathy for all people
Desire to provide client-centered care to all program participants
Understanding of harm-reduction practices, motivational interviewing skills, and trauma-informed care
Ability to manage affect and maintain professional boundaries
Ability to remain calm when responding to potentially life-threatening crises
Organizational and time management skills
Strong communication skills; especially skilled at taking complicated information and making it more accessible
Previous experience working within databases and ability to quickly adapt to new computer program reporting tools
