Candidates will possess the ability to effectively produce live video recordings and live streamed broadcasts. Must lead a production team of camera operators and other supporting techs, keep projects on schedule and individuals on task while maintaining a professional, positive and supportive work environment.

The technical director must have an advanced knowledge level of live production equipment, workflow as well as possessing strong leadership skills. Tasks will include planning for productions, anticipating equipment and staffing needs for productions both on-location or at our studio. Preparations include packing gear into a truck or studio configuration. Productions will often require local or regional travel. Some productions may require working long hours or overnight travel. Technician directors must be able to setup all equipment and be able to adapt to new production locations and venues.

Live streams and broadcast recordings will cover a variety of events including sports, musical and arts performances, conferences, business meetings, fundraisers, award shows, political events or debates, and will require flexibility adaptability to variable production needs while producing a high-quality product that requires no, or only light post-production. Technical director must have experience in at least one or more of those areas or other similar live broadcast experience.

Qualifications

Able to set up and operate all production equipment. Requirements include:

Knowledge of optimal camera settings

Advanced knowledge of audio and video routing to connect multi-camera inputs and audio sources to a switcher as well as various outputs to recording, streaming or monitoring destinations

Operate and configure a switcher, control graphics overlays, keys, PNP, and other sources

Call or direct camera operators while operating switcher in live, fast paced environment

Set up and assess lighting needs

Mixing mics, audio routing and soundboard use

Knowledge of professional video encoding hardware and streaming software experience with end use on a variety of streaming platforms or simulcasting

Familiarity with integrating Zoom or other video conferencing software into a broadcast environment

Experience with Google Docs / Suite, Premiere and Photoshop beneficial

Candidates with project management skills and experience are preferred

Candidates will have 2-5 years experience, with a degree in communications, broadcast or related field preferred.

Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to lift 50lbs, and assist with loading and unloading production equipment.

Compensation

$25-$40/hour based on experience. 10-20 hours per week with potential for full-time.
