Job summary/ Responsibilities:
The Sr. Video Engineer is a critical role within the PRIME product engineering team. This role will be responsible for the design and implementation of our software based PRIME backend video solution. PRIME's video solution records, routes, stores, streams, and transmits real time surgical video in operating room to selected destinations for viewing, editing, playing and in-depth video assessment and analytics, including analytics based on AI/ML computer vision algorithm, with the goal of discovering evidence-based surgical insight to empower healthcare providers and surgeons to achieve better surgical outcome.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement innovative software-based video solutions for capturing, recording, routing, storing, and streaming real-time surgical video and audio
Ensure the video solution is highly scalable, flexible, and adaptable in integrating with various video output devices (such as OR cameras, endoscopes, etc.) in different operating room environments in hospitals
Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to understand product requirements
Collaborate with other engineers on video quality, performance tuning, and optimization
Participate in other software product development as necessary
Collaborate with Customer Service and other engineers to provide software product support or customer production support as necessary
?Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, IT or Equivalent Technical Training/Experience
Minimum six (6) years experience developing software for commercial products
Mastery of at least two software languages: C, C, Python, Java, Javascript
Experience designing and implementing multi-process / multi-threaded, enterprise class software-based video solutions that can record, route, and stream real-time video and audio
Experience developing solutions for transcoding live video streams using video encoding formats such as H.264, VP9/VP8, etc.
Experience with open-source video processing tools and libraries (libav, libvpx, FFmpeg, OpenCV, etc.)
Strong experience in utilizing hardware platforms and technology in accelerating and optimizing video solution
Strong understanding of HTTP networking (protocol, cookies, authentication, cache, security, optimizations) and general VOIP technology
Experience with a source control system such as Git
Familiar with agile software development process. A team player with "Can Do" attitude
Excellent communication skills
