POSITION SUMMARY: You will work with a team to design, build, program and support test equipment required for evaluating and validating production parts. This equipment will range from basic holding fixtures through fully automated life cycle test systems. You will work closely with and provide training to the lab technicians, interface with Product Engineers, Advanced Quality Engineers, and Validation Engineers to ensure the performance specification and product are understood. This position is a mix of mechanical, electrical and software engineering so an ability to learn new methods and skills is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, build and support test equipment used to validate automotive security, HMI, and/or Power Access related devices
Prove out new equipment, create method sheets and train lab personnel as required
Review performance specifications and verify that the test equipment produces relative results
Collaborate with the validation engineers and test lab coordinators to ensure the fixtures have the required mechanical and electrical interfaces
Collaborate with Product Engineering to ensure products are tested as intended
Support equipment startup and problem solving at test location
Interface with turnkey suppliers to execute the built of outsourced test equipment
Perform various product evaluation and validation testing and create test reports
Participate in product design reviews as required to support projects
Generate cost reduction/avoidance ideas as it relates to Test System design and equipment construction
REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Masters preferred)
Minimum of 3 years of test equipment experience - taking product requirements and building equipment to accomplish DV (Design Verification)/PV (Product Validation)/EOL (End of Line) test requirements
Proven experience with LabVIEW - Certified LabVIEWDeveloper (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) strongly preferred, but not required
Proven electro-mechanical knowledge required
Experience with DC motors, electrical circuits, servo motors/controllers, sensors, pneumatics and/or PLCs preferred
Understanding of standard communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP, Modbus, Serial)
Wireless communication experience is a plus
Must be very well organized, able to work well with a multitude of individuals and varying personalities, able to be a self-starter and willing to perform a wide range of engineering duties
High level of interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
