DEFINITION:

The equipment maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of equipment, including warehouse equipment, manufacturing equipment, shop, and plant equipment. Their job description entails staying abreast of current company policies as they relate to safety, environmental issues, etc. to promote safety in the workplace and applying teamwork approach to all work tasks. They ensure that standard work habits are incorporated towards all job tasks.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED: 2 years in mechanical/maintenance role

QUALIFICATIONS:

a) Good oral and written English communication skills.

b) Must possess accuracy

c) organizational and problem-solving skills.

d) Ability to deal effectively with fellow employees at all levels of the organizational structure.

e) Must be able to work under pressure and stressful situations.

f) Possess a professional appearance and attitude in order to portray a positive image for Converted Products, Inc.

g) Must be a team player.

h) Must be able to read and understand a ruler down to a 1/32 of an inch.

i) Must have math skills for conversions in multiple units of measure.

j) Experience in using computer software in spreadsheets, word processors, and email

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs preventative maintenance programs on all production equipment

Confers with contractors to resolve problems in installation of new equipment

Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.

Dismantles machine or equipment, using handtools or power tools, to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.

Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment. May weld parts, using arc or gas welding equipment. May repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, or relays.

Works with outside vendors in creating needed parts for equipment.

The employee will be required to stand, lift, and bend to perform the duties for 8 or more hours per day.

Equipment maintenance technicians’ role involves contributing to the overall preventative maintenance program within the framework of the sector they work as directed.

They are responsible for completing speedy and effective maintenance during plant downtimes.

They respond to work orders for a wide variety of in-store equipment.

The technicians also respond to work orders related to plumbing or electrical issues, and complete accurate work order reporting within required timelines.

Their tasks also include replacing small ‘plug and play’ equipment as required, and performing major component replacement (i.e. Compressors, Coils), as applicable.

They are expected to meet response time parameters for repair types, including ensuring that high priority work is completed first.

Maintenance technicians ensure that company vehicles (lifts, trucks, etc.) are appropriately stocked with parts and tools as needed to perform repairs or maintenance tasks.

They must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to employ safe work practices. They also require flexibility to quickly adjust to changes and must be willing to work overtime and on holidays as needed.

Maintenance technicians must be able to work independently as well as in a team and be self-motivated.

Hours: Thursday- Saturday 5pm-5am

Wage: $16-24 per hour
