TITLE: Lead Organizer

LOCATION: Midwest

Job Type: Full Time

Reports To: Coordinator, Sr Lead organizer

Supervises: This position does supervise staff.

SALARY: Salary is commensurate based on experience.

Purpose of Position: The SEIU-NFFWU Lead Organizer is responsible for the recruitment, training and development of organizing staff and worker leaders. The lead organizer will conduct a wide array of organizing activities, including recruitment, training, strategic planning, initiating and running local organizing campaigns and implementation of citywide goals and programs.

About SEIU NFFWU

SEIU NFFWU is working to expand the movement and deepen the successful fights to raise employment standards and unite workers in organizing their union in the fast-food industry through national, state and community campaigns.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Recruit, train, develop and lead a team of organizers focused on mobilizing fast food workers around the Fight for 15 Campaign; including scheduling, assigning turf, debriefing and training.

2. Develop turf plans with the goals, strategies and tactics necessary to execute the plan.

3. Visits workers at their job sites and in their homes, and trains organizers and worker organizers in organizing.

4. Implements effective staff development and team-building. 5. Assists in coalition-building efforts with other unions, student and community groups to support local campaign goals.

6. Manage lists, charts, and databases.

7. Meet campaign goals and deadlines. Responsible for managing organizers success

of meeting goals and deadlines. 8. Coordinate and implement worksite and large-scale actions and events in support of

organizational goals. 9. Informs Coordinator or other supervisor of activities, developments and progress of

assigned campaigns. 10. Extended day and occasional overnight travel. 11. Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends. 12. Must possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and an automobile for

business use.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Experienced in leading multiple staff, assignments, projects, managing timelines, and effectively using database systems, or equivalent experience.

Ability to establish and maintain rapport and credibility with diverse groups.

Excellent written and oral communications.

A demonstrated commitment to social justice.

A demonstrated commitment to union/worker democracy and supporting and developing workers' voices and leadership in their union.
