St. James Parish is located in Mukwonago, a rapidly growing community in southwestern Waukesha County. We are establishing a collaborative Youth Activities program with our sister parish, St. Theresa in Eagle. This position will provide fellowship opportunities for the youth of both parishes, while helping them understand their call to discipleship.
This is a part-time position, approximately 10 hours per week, with flexible hours and a variable schedule, depending upon the time of year. The qualified candidate will establish bonds with parish youth by assisting with programs and structured formation. He/she will assist the DRE and Formation team with the planning and execution of scheduled activities, outings, events, and Life Teen/Edge sessions. Planned activities will be age-specific, to help engage our youth and give them a sense of ownership in the parishes. Some examples of activities would be bonfires, dances, picnics, outings such as hiking or canoeing, mission trips, retreats, etc.
Applicants should be at least 21 years of age and active in their faith life, with a calling and passion for youth and young adult ministry. He/she must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith. Post-high school education in youth ministry/formation or Catholic theology is a plus. He/she must possess a high degree of social skills and demonstrate the ability to assume a responsible leadership role. Individuals are expected to be prompt, reliable, energetic, and mature. Basic familiarity with Windows software and prior recordkeeping within the framework of a database is desired. The individual should be knowledgeable about various forms of social media and electronic communication, while still producing and understanding the need for more traditional ways of sharing information (flyers, posters, bulletin articles, etc.). Prior experience in areas such as tutoring, camp counseling, mission trips, or retreat experience is a plus.
