JOB REQUIREMENTS: Essential Duties: Provides support to City Planners within the Department of City Development Deliver support services and presentations to committees and commissions which may include, but are not limited to: Plan Commission, Downtown Area Design Review Commission, Landmarks Commission, Redevelopment Authority, Community Development Committee, Finance Committee, Common Council, industrial park development review committees, special project management teams, and others. Reviews site plans and planning proposals and prepares staff reports Conducts field work, collects data and searches land records Analyzes zoning research requests and prepares memos Assists staff in collecting and preparing data and reports for various planning projects Answers phones and email requests for questions relating to planning processes and zoning Prepares maps, graphics, and planning reports of limited or variable complexity Assists planning staff at meetings Conducts basic office functions as needed, such as data entry, file management, and customer service Maintains a consistent and reliable attendance record Cooperate and coordinate with other departments, agencies and organizations in matters related to planning and development proposals and initiative. Conducts site visits related to current projects and applications to obtain site photos, perform condition inventories, review development progress, and monitor development compliance. The City of Racine is an EOE/AA/ADA Employer OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE REQUIREDMinimum education: Bachelor's Degree and currently enrolled in an Urban Planning, Architecture, or Design Master's Degree program. Basic understanding of planning principles Basic manual and technology-assisted drafting and design skill. Specific knowledge relating to pertinent specialty, such as zoning, affordable housing, transportation, or land use Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Internet applications, and GIS SKILLS REQUIRED Strong written and oral communication skills Strong research and analytical skills Motivated self-starter able to work independently Ability to work effectively in a team environment Flexibility and desire to work on varying planning projects APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: ipc.us/t/B01340004ECC4892
