Eaton's Power Systems Division is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support its Switchgear Engineering team. This role will be based in South Milwaukee, WI.

The senior electrical engineer is responsible for sustaining engineering support for the control systems and electronics used with medium voltage reclosers, fault interrupters, and switches. This role identifies creative solutions, performs engineering analysis, creates designs, oversees verification, and contributes to the implementation of product cost savings, product improvements, and engineering process improvement projects.

In this function you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve product design and product definition data (bills of materials, drawings, specifications) related to control systems and protective relays.
  • Manage the introduction of new products and changes to existing products.
  • Support production and manufacturing engineering with resolution of production and testing issues.
  • Work with global suppliers and Supplier Quality Engineers to define and conduct supplier assessments, capability analysis, and part approvals.
  • Work with Service, Quality Engineers, Application Engineers and customers to analyze, document and resolve product reliability issues. Write product analysis reports for affected customers.
  • Utilize Design for Six Sigma and Lean techniques to drive product and process improvements.
  • Design for Cost/Design for Manufacture Analysis (DFM/DFA) on individual parts, subassemblies with the ability to propose alternate materials and methods of assembly and manufacture.
  • Perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging advanced tools (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical analysis tools, etc.).
  • Coordinate the execution of functional and reliability test plans utilizing both internal and external lab resources.
  • Apply relevant Industry Standards to product design, including development and execution of design verification and validation.
  • Set aggressive goals, measure performance, and strive to go beyond what is expected.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve processes, products and services appropriately challenge the status quo.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years engineering experience
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation is offered for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the South Milwaukee, WI site.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of design experience with PCBA design and electrical controls systems
  • Strong analytical aptitude to troubleshoot Analog & Digital designs at the component level
  • High voltage design experience and power system analysis experience
  • Developing skills with PCB development tools
  • Developing effective project leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Green belt training
  • Developing skills in Engineering analysis and digital simulation (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical analysis tools, etc.).
  • Developing product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.

  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Proficient using Microsoft Office software
  • Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.
