The HR Assistant performs a wide array of para-professional administrative support functions as part of the HR team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The employee shall comply with all safety and health standards, and all rules, regulations, and orders which are applicable to the individual's own position, actions, and conduct.
Provides para-professional services in HR generalist areas including but not limited to: recruitment, retention, job evaluation, compensation, benefits, and employee record keeping.
Provides technical support for pay and benefits program development.
Provides support for Welfare and Pension Plans.
Is highly involved with serving and communicating with benefits customers.
Calculates retirements and verifies for accuracy.
Monitors and assists with Compensation and Benefits policy and procedure.
Maintains HRIS and other records and data.
Coordinates and educates employees on benefits.
Works actively to contribute to improved staffing plans and recruitment initiatives.
Works on special projects as assigned.
Provides administrative support including for e.g. evaluations, license verifications and reports, background checks, job postings, travel itineraries, and other areas as assigned.
Provides back-up support to Payroll functions.
Helps administer payroll and status changes.
Assist with Payroll policy and procedure development.
Maintains HRIS and other records and data in STAR and in other software and applications.
Maintains Position Manager system and processes applications.
