The company is looking for an Associate Lead of Contract School Financial Services to be responsible for managing the financial reporting and financial services needs for a portfolio of Connections’ partnering contract school customers. This position is responsible for establishing positive customer relationships and will play a key role in advising internal business owners on school finance matters. The Associate Lead Contract School Financial Services will be responsible for implementing efficient financial processes and overseeing school compliance requirements. Occasional travel may be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain up to date, detailed understanding of funding mechanisms, terms of statement of agreements, district requirements and relevant state compliance requirements for contract school partners.
Oversee process for reporting monthly financial data to contract school- school leaders and internal management.
Perform variance analysis and work with operational team members to understanding variances, identify financial risks and opportunities, and escalate them to management as appropriate.
Partner with internal stakeholders to support them with understanding school financial results, highlighting risks/opportunities, and strategizing for best financial outcomes.
Manage high priority financial risks and opportunities, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are resolved in a manner that is consistent with company priorities.
Develop contract school budgets. Collaborate with internal departments to develop and confirm budget assumptions.
Establish relationships and review financial results with contract school leaders. Provide training and guidance to help them better understand and take ownership of their financial results.
Work with Finance to gather and provide financial data required to properly maintain and report results.
Improve the grant management/tracking process currently in place for Contract Schools which receive Federal Funding. This includes working with internal departments to ensure results are incorporated into monthly reporting and deliverables.
Perform ad hoc financial reporting as required.
Lead or participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA required.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the not-for-profit (501(c)3) or education industry.
Minimum of 5 years experience providing accounting and/or auditing services.
Strong and practical working knowledge of accounting theory and practices particularly related to not-for-profit and fund accounting.
Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products, including advanced knowledge of Excel
Ability and willingness to travel
