How will you make an impact?

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Growth & Strategy to support the various initiatives within the Laboratory Products Division (LPD) business. In this role, you will work with division leaders in support of a variety of projects ranging from operations, supply chain, commercial/market development, process design and improvement, business and market intelligence, and digital/connected solutions. The successful candidate will have a broad background in PPI/Lean/continuous improvement, project management, business systems, business intelligence tools, marketing analysis, and general business acumen.

What will you do?

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute projects that drive growth and are aligned with the overall strategy deployment and goals for the Laboratory Products Division

  • Serve as a trusted partner to leaders by applying sound business intelligence and project management practices to complex problems where analysis of situations or information requires an in-depth evaluation and knowledge of various factors impacting the overall outcome

  • Work with members of the leadership team to develop and communicate actionable, revenue generating strategies by analyzing various data sets

  • Drive cross-functional, multi-site (potentially international) programs which are strategic in nature to the ongoing evolution of the Laboratory Products Division team

  • Influence stakeholders and their leaders as appropriate in a matrixed organizational environment to implement execution plans involving processes, resource allocation, capital, work plans, timelines, and financial outcomes

  • Address conflicts or issues as they arise, escalating as necessary, in order to overcome any obstacles

  • Owns end to end success of the projects, ensuring accountability, execution of timelines, and continuous change management to deliver on-time, quality results

  • Execute robust risk management practices to maintain high probability of program success, i.e., satisfaction of scope, schedule and budget

  • Challenge the current thought process of staff and status quo of business processes

  • Create synergistic, collaborative team environments encouraging trust, respect and cooperation among team members

  • Lead cross-functional teams in order to improve current processes and create new processes using Lean tools


How will you get here?

Education

  • BS/BA degree (or higher) in Marketing, Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field required
  • MBA strongly preferred


Experience

  • 5+ years of cross functional work experience e.g., in Operations, R&D, or Marketing
  • 3+ years of project management experience

  • Experience in customer experience design and/or customer journey mapping


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong background in analytics, program/project management, and/or facilitation

  • Expertise with several analytics tools, such as PowerBI and Excel. Ability to learn other tools and evaluate tools for suitability of implementation

  • Demonstrated analytics and/or data architecture skills

  • Skilled at interpreting data to draw conclusions and craft a story accordingly

  • Strong graphics and visualization. Ability to convey message simply and advise on best possible data visualizations.

  • Ability to provide a solid plan for complex projects including stakeholders alignment planning, communication planning and process change planning

  • Influencing and leadership skills to effectively drive decision making, problem solving and coordinating people from multiple cross-functional disciplines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent teamwork and negotiation skills

  • Ability to travel up to 15-20% including international locations.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Project Management (e.g. certified by PMIĀ®, Program Management Institute)

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on data analytics / intelligence experience supporting cross-functional teams

  • Financial analysis and modeling capabilities

  • Expertise with Lean tools such as value-stream mapping
