JOB TITLE: House Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Patient Care Services
REPORTS TO: Chief Clinical Officer
JOB SUMMARY
Assess patients and plan care for shift needs in all departments with assistance from nursing staff and department managers. Supervision of all nursing personnel in the performance of consistently high-quality patient care. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.

ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Cody Regional Health’s Ethics and Compliance Program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer or hospital hotline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support administrative and nurse manager's decisions and policies. Adhere to CRH Policies and Procedures. Follow proper chain of command.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
1. Adjust daily schedule for illness, emergency or census influx. May participate in staff coverage if competent and off duty and all other options for coverage have failed.
2. Document all sick calls, tardiness, absenteeism, and problems with dress code. Keep "on call" list and "call in extra" list accurate and up to date.
3. Administer safety policies and procedures as necessary.
4. Assure quality of patient care through rounds.
5. Call in ancillary personnel and departments as necessary.
6. Assure infection control policies are observed.
7. Oversee crash cart checks and documentation.
8. Assist staff with written care plans and medical record documentation.
9. Assume responsibility for supply management; carry pharmacy and stock room keys.
10. Participate in nurse management activities and in-services as required by nursing and hospital administration.
11. Incident command leader until appropriate Senior Leader is available to take over command.
12. Adhere to legal guidelines and hospital policy regarding release of information and evidence to law enforcement, media or the public.
13. Participate in activities to promote CRH in community health and education.
14. Be willing and have the ability to support staff in all areas as need arises.
15. Participate in in-service programs as both student and teacher. Attend workshops, as possible, and take responsibility for keeping own knowledge and skills up to date. Attend mandatory in-services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. Prefer Bachelor of Science in nursing
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years’ experience in the acute care of medical and surgical patients, with additional experience in ER, OB, ICU and pediatric nursing. Experience in managing personnel desired.
SKILLS
Knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles. Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations. Must be able to assist writing policies and procedures. Must interact effectively with a wide variety of people. Excellent communication skills. Able to assume a leadership role and serve as an example to other employees. Ability to function independently and prioritize. Must be well motivated and organized.
