Educational requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Management is preferred.


Licensure:

Experience/Attributes/Skills:

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in ambulatory surgery center preferred and previous experience in hospital/ambulatory/clinical supervisor or administrative management position is required.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have the ability to analyze reports, determine priorities, and plan strategies; and must possess the ability to handle this challenging and time-consuming position.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting and billing systems.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions that result in having to re-evaluate priorities, with strong initiative to get daily work finished and processed.

    Primary Function:

  • ASC Administrator is responsible for the daily operation of the Center. The Administrator shall construct and implement, following governing body approval, all policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of the Center.
  • Assists Governing Body in developing and maintaining the Centers goals and objectives, annual budget, and long term forecasting/planning.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, monitors and controls the staffing needs, operations and capital budgets.
  • Ensure that Center complies with the requirements and respective components of regulatory and accrediting body standards.
  • Shall work with Continuous Quality Improvement Committees, Board of Managers, and Medical Director in the evaluation and development of existing and new surgical services at the facility.
  • Ensures that the performance benchmarks and matrix are monitored and appropriate feedback is given to all stakeholders.
  • Maintains oversight over business, clinical, central supply, medical records departments.
  • Ensures that the equipment and facilities are in good functioning order each day, and that the medical staff has all the equipment and supplies necessary to care for patients in their area.
  • Administrator shall ensure that available resources are provided to adequately maintain the physical property and equipment of the Center and interfaces with contracted services/vendors to certify that timely repairs and scheduled maintained is performed as needed.
  • Provides for a safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and personnel
  • Evaluates staff performance management and reviews/approves progressive disciplinary action, up to and including discharge/termination.
  • Administers and maintains program of job based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation to assess employee skills/aptitude and ensures that appropriate employee files and records are in accordance with all application state and private accreditation standards.
  • Maintains membership in professional associations relevant to ambulatory surgery facilities and healthcare administration.
  • Promotes the implementation of positive customer and community relations by the employees and physicians.
  • Remains current in changes in the healthcare environment, such as reimbursement, legislative issues and business law, and act accordingly in the best interest of the corporation.
  • Actively participates and attends all mandatory in-services and committee meetings.
  • Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers and management and functions as an effective team member.
  • Respects and protects the patient’s right to confidentiality, and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interest with full consideration of their legal rights.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
