Our legal practice is seeking to hire a Litigation Paralegal to join our team to support our practice by preparing documents like pleadings, orders, affidavits, discovery and legal correspondence. The litigation paralegal is a valuable part of the legal team often working on all phases of the trial from beginning to end. The Litigation Paralegal will help prepare for hearings, trials, mediations and depositions through exhibit organization, witness preparation, research and follow-through of other tasks as required. The Litigation Paralegal will also attend trials acting as an assistant to the attorney during the court proceedings.

This position requires a great amount of time spent on drafting correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs and many other documents needed in preparation for court. Because of this, excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and attention to detail is crucial. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applications such as Word and Excel along with the ability to multitask effectively and essentially thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment are essential to be successful in this role.

Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities:

Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.

Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details.

Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.

Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents.

Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action.

Directing and coordinating service of documents including service of subpoenas and summons.

Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data.

Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings.

Producing and sending out various documents, including a variety of orders, memos, emails, and letters.

Maintaining client communication, case status and updates.

Litigation Paralegal Requirements:

Minimum of two (2) years of litigation legal support/legal assistant/paralegal experience required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.

Ability to conduct legal research.

Knowledge of the litigation process to include court rules and procedures for prosecutions.

Ability to communicate orally.

Ability to use a variety of office software programs.

Knowledge and proficiency in legal software applications such as Clio.

Knowledge of and skill in the use of spreadsheets and schedules, in order to gather data, analyze information, and present findings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
