  • JOB SUMMARY

    Works under the supervision of the Director of Information Systems. Coordinates the education, benefit realization, and maintenance of all CCMH financial information systems and a sundry of departmental systems. Manages and helps implement requests for system or related systems changes. Defines and implements custom routines using native report writing tools, third party tools, scripting tools, etc. Serves as project manager as requested by the Director of Information Systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Assist in the implementation of new technologies to improve patient care or efficiency with in the hospital. Assist the organization in the development of necessary reporting procedures.

  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

    • Develops positive working relationships with all departments/managers/accounting staff/or ad hock staff involved in financial or related projects.

    • Works closely with managers, supervisors, operational staff in all business areas to represent their needs in the configuration and implementation of the HIS.

    • Serves as the primary liaison for all business operations departments relating to the HIS.

    • Communicates user needs to vendor and demonstrates effective follow-up as it applies to the efficient operation of the department/service line.

    • Utilizes current knowledge of business and financial practice to develop an evidence-based model for the HIS.

    • Coordinates the process of setting documentation standards for CCMH.

    • Develops and organizes educational training programs to ensure the proficiency within operational service areas, and applications are utilized for maximum efficiency, and users are informed of new updates and revision.

    • Participates on committees as required to address financial and operational data issues and support systems.

    • Serves as resource person for the daily operational issues of the hospital's financial and associated systems

    • Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in the field by:

    • Demonstrates personal commitment to the principles, values and ethics of the organization.

    • Responsible for submitting a training plan to the IS Director annually.

    • Models accountability for learning by sharing knowledge and learning from others

    • Assist with financial and operational information systems security and confidentiality mechanisms in information systems in accordance with user and/or facility policies and procedures.

    • Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems involved in supporting application systems.

    • Participates in efforts toward maintaining components of the financial and operational information systems, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the operational environment.

    • Brings to the job a body of knowledge grounded in their previous financial and operational experience.

    • Participates in the On Call schedule.

    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

    • Constantly strives to provide the highest level of service by Information Systems.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Participates in efforts toward maintaining components of the financial and operational information systems, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the operational environment.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Nursing, Business Administration, or equivalent with 3-5 years experience.

    • Licensure: None.

    • Experience: Must have three years experience with hospital/clinical focused computerized system applications. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products. Knowledge and/or experience in an IT environment helpful. Experience in an electronic clinical environment preferred. Must have a working knowledge of integrated clinical systems in a LAN/WAN environment. Minimum 5 years experience as a HIS financial analyst grade I or equivalent work experience.

    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Hand/eye coordination and finger dexterity to operate computer. Must posses strong PC skills working within an integrated clinical systems environment.

    • Interpersonal Skills: Must be a team player and have strong customer relations skills.

    • Essential Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion, including lifting and carrying of supplies and computer related hardware weighing up to 60 lbs on a daily basis; requires sitting for long periods of time

    • Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to understand complex business processes and apply information technology solutions to those processes. Must have ability to prepare test plans, perform and supervise unit and integration testing of integrated information systems. Must possess strong process, organization and leadership skills. Must possess a proactive approach to work, be highly motivated, and have the ability to motivate others. Able to work in a changing and dynamic environment. Able to work with limited supervision. Must possess strong verbal and written skills. Must be detail oriented, highly organized, with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals who have varying levels of comprehension. Must possess the ability and willingness to learn Microsoft Project.

    • Essential Sensory Requirements: Sufficient vision, hearing and speech to perform required duties. Must be able to perform presentations to small or large audiences and/or the public.

    • Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY III. TASKS THAT INVOLVE NO EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES, AND CATEGORY I TASKS ARE NOT A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way. Tasks that involve handling of implements or utensils, use of public or shared bathroom facilities or telephones, and personal contacts such as handshaking are Category III Tasks.

    • Hours of Work: Generally normal business hours, although may be required to work extended or non-standard work hours in order to accomplish job duties and responsibilities.
