SUMMARY:
Under basic supervision, provides routine administrative, customer service and clerical support of the District Court; processes court documents, reviews and enters data on secure databases, and assists patrons.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs a variety of routine clerical and technical functions. Processes standard, confidential, and technical documents; creates and maintains court files, performs data entry, issues and accepts documents and forms; and assesses fees, receipts monies, and prepares deposits. Assists with internal reviews for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists the public and litigants with inquiries regarding court records, services, and clerk policies, practices and procedures; responds to complaints; interprets and administers office rules and regulations, the court rules and statutes of the State of Wyoming, and the United States Department of State policies regarding passport services.
  • Applies independent judgment to resolve technical issues within scope of training and authority; refers matters requiring policy interpretation to appropriate colleagues for resolution.
  • Recommends and completes assigned special projects, reporting, training and research assignments to support individual professional development and ongoing office improvements.
  • Proposes updates to internal training materials in assigned area(s) and cross-trains in other duties as assigned.
  • May interpret in court, translate letters and statements submitted in Spanish to the court record, and/or translate court forms.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of customer service and computer experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to speak Spanish preferred.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • May be required to become registered with the State of Wyoming Supreme Court as a court interpreter.

Required Knowledge of:

  • County policies and procedures, and pertinent federal and state laws, regulations, and procedures including Wyoming Court rules.
  • Customer service principles, protocols, and standards.
  • Standard and specialized computer software applications.

  • Safe work practices and security precautions in court environments.
  • Basic principles and practices of accounting, cash handling, record keeping, and records management.
  • Legal, ethical, and professional rules of conduct for public sector employees.

Required Skills in:

  • Responding to public inquiries and providing information on departmental services, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately processing technical transactions, and maintaining departmental records, files, and documentation.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the general public.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Providing effective customer service, resolving conflicts, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.96 - $23.07 per hour
