College Overview: Wyoming Catholic College is a four-year private college located in Lander, Wyoming. The school’s mission is to form students through a Great Books curriculum studying the best of the Western Tradition, an outdoor leadership program which teaches virtue, and faithful adherence to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The school offers a single degree program for a Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts.

Lander, Wyoming: With approximately 8,000 permanent residents (and many more during the summer months), Lander lies in the valley of the Popo Agie River on the southeastern edge of the majestic Wind River Mountain Range. With a charming and vibrant Main Street that caters to Western fashions, artistic tastes, and outdoor adventure, Lander is unique. National Geographic named it one of the premier “Adventure Towns” in America, and it was a finalist in a nationwide “Coolest Towns” competition.

Position Summary: The College is seeking a Marketing and Communications Officer to support its public relations efforts. This position is primarily concerned with enhancing the reputation and brand of the College through its websites, advertisements, social media platforms, and print and electronic publications. The Officer will coordinate the marketing needs of Admissions, Advancement, and COR Expeditions, as well as serving as the primary source of logo, branding, and usage guidelines throughout the College’s promotional efforts. The position will report to the Vice President of Advancement, and must be based in Lander.

Essential Functions/Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Publications

    • Design and manage the production of the College’s quarterly magazine and Integritas, publications, a COR Expeditions magazine, and annual reports for both the College and for COR Expeditions
    • Update and coordinate Admissions and Advancement promotional materials, including viewbooks, catalogs, fact sheets, one-pagers, PEAK brochures, leave-behinds, planned giving brochures, etc.
    • Help with the design and production of COR Expeditions’ marketing materials and website content to ensure brand consistency and grow their client base through promotion of their courses, both upcoming and completed
    • Solicit, collect, and coordinate content for the College’s weekly Presidential Column email, monthly WCC Roundup email, COR Expeditions’ advertising and missionary emails, and emails from the Office of the Academic Dean and the Office of Student Life, as needed
  • Advertising

    • Design and manage a comprehensive advertising budget
    • Create advertisements and coordinate ad placement across all media platforms
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, assess outcomes, and develop improved content to better achieve goals
  • Brand Consistency

    • Maintain Logo and Brand Identity guidelines for WCC and COR Expeditions
    • Refine and maintain Usage Guide for online and print mediums
    • Help design College-branded gear, including shirts, mugs, etc.
    • Help promote marketing uses of gear as well as sales
  • Content Creation and Media Management

    • Maintain the College’s website, generating news stories and updating its various informational portions, as necessary
    • Manage the creation and posting of content on the College’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube
    • Work with the President and Vice President of Advancement on regular appeals that will be sent to the College’s supporters and prospects
    • Work to generate positive publicity for the College through relationships with media outlets and publications, and manage press inquiries and opportunities when they arise

Carry out additional responsibilities as needed, including working with the Advancement and Admissions teams on the planning and publicity of various community events

Requisite Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of and passion for the academic mission of the College
  • 3-5 years of marketing experience
  • Familiarity with design software (Adobe Creative Suite or other comparable products), website software (WordPress or comparable products), and email marketing programs (MailChimp or comparable products)
  • Adept at various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and more (as they arise)
  • The ability to lay out a plan and implement that plan, to organize and keep to a publications calendar, maintain a schedule, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a particular focus on the creation of content for the various publications being managed
  • Attention to detail; self-directed and motivated; a sense of humor and a positive attitude
