ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to the department and university departments in the area of planning and budgeting.
Prepare projected future revenues and expenditures scenarios to submit to management.
Assist on the preparation of special studies, analyses, and recommendations in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, and business forecasts.
Advise management on matters, such as effective use of resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Analyze statistics of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred.
May assist in financial analysis of legislative projects to develop capital improvement budget.
May act as consultant to management on financial policies, procedures, and applications.
May assist departments in developing budget and efficient use of funds.
Develop analytical and reporting tools to integrate financial information and provide a framework for evaluating high level decisions.
Develop long-range financial planning and modeling tools to evaluate the implications of possible changes.
Prepare financial studies to provide comprehensive financial analyses and strategic recommendations.
Review and analyze information, forecasts, methods, schedules, systems, processes, and procedures.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required by each agency for various contracts and sponsored projects.
Reconcile to the financial accounting system budget balance and cash balance for each project.
Communicate with principal investigator regarding compliance with funding agency rules and regulations.
Ensure that reports are delivered according to required schedules.
Communicate with the Principal Investigator(s) and other Fiscal Managers regarding project status.
Prepare electronic requests for funds and reports with independent judgment.
Recommend alternative solutions to management as to courses of action that best meet the organization’s goals. Facilitate business process re-engineering by providing recommendations to improve division-wide efficiencies through technology.
Under supervision, manage the business and fiscal operations of a designated area.
Prepare or supervise the preparation of financial reports; perform complex accounting functions; participate in meetings concerning financial aspects of a designated area.
Maintain thorough knowledge of government, University and specialized regulations and policies, which impact personnel and fiscal affairs of the designated area.
Manage and maintain the daily fiscal affairs for a designated area including processing purchase orders and vouchers, coordinating activities with other University departments, outside agencies, and organizations and processing payroll, accounts payable, and receivable.
Develop and present training materials at an advanced level.
Balance and reconcile budgets following accounting policies and procedures.
Meet multiple and demanding deadlines.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Attend and participate in trainings and other professional development activity.
Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.
Perform special projects, as directed.
Attend conferences and workshops applicable to sponsored programs' administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance or business
Experience: At least 2 years work-related experience
